New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday approved the name of eight Chief Justices to the High Courts. The President also approved transfer of five Chief Justices to different High Courts.
In exercise of the power conferred under the Constitution of India, President of India, in consultation with Chief Justice of India, is pleased to appoint 08 Judges as Chief Justices of High Courts along with transfer of 05 Chief Justiced to various state High Courts, according to statement issued on Saturday.
The 08 judges who were appointed as Chief Justices of various state High Courts are as follows.
Justice Ravi Vijaykumar Malimath, a judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, a judge of the Karnataka High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court.
Justice Ranjit Vasantrao More , a judge of the Meghalaya High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the same Meghalaya High Court.
Justice Arvind Kumar, a judge of the Karnataka High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court.
Justice Rajesh Bindal, acting Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.
Justice Rituraj Awasthi, a judge of the Allahabad High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.
Justice Prakash Srivastava, a judge of the Madhya High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court.
Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, a judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
Similarly, five Chief Justices of various state High Courts have been transferred to other states as Chief Justices.
They are as follows:
Justice Biswanath Somadder, the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court, has been transferred as the Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court.
Justice Mohammad Rafiq, the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court, had been transferred as the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court.
Justice Akil Abdulhamid Kureshi, the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court, had been transferred as the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court.
Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court, had been transferred as the Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court.
Justice Indrajit Mahanty, the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court, has been transferred as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court.
