Bishnupur: District Health Society, Bishnupur convened a District Level Steering Committee on National Deworming Day meeting today at the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat Complex in Bishnupur. The committee resolved to observe the National Deworming Day (NDD) Programme from September 27 to October 12, 2021as per the recommendation of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
With schools remaining closed as per COVID guidelines, this round of NDD will be carried out through a community-based approach during the specified days instead of the earlier bi-annual single day program implemented through schools and anganwadis. A community-based approach has been adopted to ensure continuity of deworming efforts while minimizing risks related to the pandemic. The door to door delivery and administration of Albendazole tablets to all children and adolescents aged between 1 to 19 years will be carried out by frontline health workers namely Anganwadi Workers, ASHAs and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) during home visits while maintaining covid-19 safety guidelines.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur as well as DHS members comprising of officials from CMO, Zilla Parishad, ZEO, WCD, PHED, Social Welfare, Family Welfare, DIO/DIPR, ICDS, NHM, RKSK/RBSK, SSA and Private Schools Welfare Association.
Following the NDD meeting, the District Health Society/National Health Mission, Bishnupur also launched Breastfeeding Week 2021 at the conference hall of New Mini Secretariat complex today under the nation-wide intensified breastfeeding promotion campaign- Mother’s Absolute Affection (MAA) with a theme ‘Protect Breastfeeding: A shared responsibility’.
