New Delhi: As a political crisis unfolded in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is set to meet former Congress president Rahul Gandhi at his residence on Friday, the second meeting in less than a week.
“I have been called to meet Rahul Gandhi, so I am headed to Delhi. I have no clue the reason for it, rest is media speculation,” Baghel said this morning.
Chhattisgarh Health Minister TS Singh Deo has staked his claim for the chief minister’s post for the remaining term of the state government, saying it was agreed upon when the government was formed.
Baghel and Deo met Rahul Gandhi on August 26, after which Chhattisgarh in charge of the party PL Punia had said there were no discussions on changing the chief minister in the state.
Baghel on Friday said reports of him being replaced were speculations.
Sources said over 20 MLAs, and some Ministers from Chhattisgarh have also arrived in Delhi in a show of strength.
