Imphal: The Manipur government Tuesday extended COVID curfew in the state till August 7, while granting certain relaxations in a few districts.
As per an official order, the curfew will be fully imposed in seven districts that have reported a maximum number of Covid cases so far. They are Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Churachandpur and Chandel.
In respect of the remaining nine districts viz, Pherazwl, Kamjong, Ukhrul, Jiribam, Kangpokpi, Senapati, Noney, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal, the following measures shall be adopted, said a statement issued by Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar on Tuesday evening.
i. Night curfew from 6 pm to 5 am in these nine districts shall be enforced strictly.
ii. Unavoidable customary and religious rituals can be performed in open sheds by restricting the number of invitees to twenty only.
iii. Micro containment zones shall be strictly monitored by dedicated Police Department teams and Health Department teams.
iv. Fresh cases of Covid-19 infections shall be isolated as soon as possible and brought to Covid Care Centres and Health Department shall arrange a mobile medical team for regular health checks.
v. Health Department shall scale up vaccination, contact tracing and testing by providing additional manpower, mobility support and IEC Advocacy.

“The “curfew” has been extended for another four days w.e.f. 04.08.2021 to 07.08.2021 while also allowing additional activities.” the order read.
The state government further directed all deputy commissioners to issue necessary orders and asked Superintendents of Police to take necessary action to implement the orders strictly.
