Manipur records 459 new Covid cases, 16 deaths in last 24 hours

Manipur had reported 530 cases, the lowest in three weeks, on Sunday; 554 cases on Saturday, 687 cases on Friday and 730 cases on Thursday.

Imphal: Manipur recorded 459 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest since May 10 and 16 fatalities on Monday, according to the latest health bulletin.

The state has recorded 60, 311 COVID-19 cases and 990 fatalities due to the disease since it began ravaging Manipur last year. Over 50,878 patients have recovered from the infection, the bulletin said.

Sixteen persons – Two at RIMS, six at JNIMS, five at Shija Hospital and three at District Hospital Churachandpur expired. Among them four were from Imphal West, three each at Imphal East, Churachandpur, and Thoubal, two at Bishnupur and one at Kakching.

Manipur had reported 530 cases, the lowest in three weeks, on Sunday; 554 cases on Saturday, 687 cases on Friday and 730 cases on Thursday. The state had recorded 15 deaths on Sunday, 15 on Saturday, 19 on Friday and 10 on Thursday.

A total of 5,257 tests, including 4674 RT-PCR tests/TruNat and 583 RAT, were conducted during the past 24 hours, according to the health bulletin on Sunday.

The number of active cases has declined by 71 from 530 on Sunday, according to the bulletin.

The Covid positivity rate, which was a great concern for Manipur, especially in the month of May, fell considerably, but the fatalities rate still a matter of concern.

The number of patients that recovered in the last one day amounts to 499, in contrast to 726 on Sunday.

The number of active cases in Manipur stood at 8,443 and recovery rate is 84.35 per cent.

As per latest information, only 327 persons were vaccinated on Monday, pushing the total number so far at 4,67,403. A total of 1451 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 413 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available in different health facilities of Manipur.

Meanwhile, the State Health Directorate has directed air passengers who travelled to the state on Sunday (12th June 2021) by Air India AI-889 in rows 16-22 to immediately inform the Common Covid Control Room 1800-345-3818 or respective District Surveillance Officer (DSO) for further surveillance and necessary testing.
