Close shave for Congress MLA, as miscreants open fire in Assam-Nagaland border

Police sources said the MLA is safe and has been shifted to a protected place by the Assam Police Battalion.

Guwahati: A Congress legislator from Upper Assam Rupjyoti Kurmi narrowly escaped after miscreants opened fire targeting him at the Disai Valley Reserve Forest along the Assam-Nagaland border in Jorhat district.

The incident took place when the MLA visited the reserve forest area to take stock of the situation arising following a border dispute between Assam and Nagaland.

Police sources said the MLA is safe and has been shifted to a protected place by the Assam Police Battalion.
