95 fresh COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya

With 475 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, including Shillong is the most affected district in the State followed by West Jaintia Hills district with 97 active cases

Shillong: Meghalaya registered 95 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday taking active cases up to 649 in the State, even as 11 more recoveries from the viral infection took the number of recovered cases up to 13,997.

Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said the new COVID-19 cases detected on Saturday, 50 were in the East Khasi Hills district, 16 in West Jaintia Hills district, 11 in West Khasi Hills district, 10 in Ri-Bhoi district, six in East Jaintia Hills district and one in West Garo Hills district.

With 475 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, including Shillong is the most affected district in the State followed by West Jaintia Hills district with 97 active cases and Ri-Bhoi district with 33 active cases as of date.

So far, Meghalaya has registered 14, 798 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 152 fatalities due to the viral disease.

As per latest official report, 1,05,232 persons from outside entered the State from outside since the onset of the pandemic till date.

There were 18 micro containment zones in the State, where positive Covid-19 cases were detected as on Friday evening.

Dr. War informed that so far 22, 845 health care workers have received the first dose of the Covishield vaccine, 16, 705 have received the second dose, while 34, 958 frontline workers received the first dose and 22, 498 got the second shot, even as 68, 748 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose and 6, 443 have received the second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19.
