94 recoveries, 59 new COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya

Shillong: Recoveries from Covid-19 related complications continued to exceed the number of daily cases of infection in Meghalaya with 94 patients recovering on Friday, which surged the number of recovered cases to 81128, even as 59 new cases added up to 698 active cases
and two deaths increased the number of fatalities to 1443, health officials.

The new COVID-19 cases detected on Friday included 45 in the East Khasi Hills district, four each in the West Khasi Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district, three in Ri-Bhoi district, two in West Garo Hills district and one case in South West Khasi Hills district.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the most pandemic-hit East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong has further declined to 454 with the district recording 45 new cases and an equal number of recoveries from the viral disease as on Friday.

As per information received from the State health and family welfare department on Friday, the West Khasi Hills district had 135 active COVID-19 cases, 44 active cases in West Jaintia Hills district, 33 active cases in Ri-Bhoi district, 15 active cases in West Garo Hills district, five active cases in South West Khasi Hills district, four active cases in South West Garo Hills district, three active cases in Ri-Bhoi district, two active cases each in East Garo Hills district and North Garo Hills district and one active case in South Garo Hills district.

On the other hand, 32,071 health care workers have received the first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 and 27,843 were administered with the second dose, 96,965 front-line workers got the first jab and 79,512 have taken the second dose, 9,64,069 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose and 4,78,536 have been fully vaccinated with the second dose across the state as on date, health officials said.
