Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh witnessed 8737 new Corona cases during the past 24 hours while 255 people have died.
There has been a significant decline in the number of new cases of corona virus infection in the state since last 18 days.
Additional Chief Secretary Health and Medical Amit Mohan Prasad said here on Tuesday that the recovery rate of corona virus in the state is continuously increasing.
He said in the last 24 hours, only 8737 new infections have been detected, whereas till April 30 this number used to be above 30,000. There has also been a drop of 56 percent in the active case in the state, while the recovery rate has gone up to 90.60 percent.
Due to Corona infection, 255 people have died in the state in the last 24 hours. Now the positivity rate has come down to 3.2 percent. This number is about 29,000 less than 38,000 cases reported on April 24, last. In the last 24 hours, 23,045 infected persons have been discharged after treatment.
Prasad said that the government’s focus has shifted to vaccination. So far, the first dose of vaccine has been given to 1,19,42,983 people. Since Monday, vaccination work is going on for people above 18 years of age in 23 districts. Second dose of vaccine has also been given to 32,81,544 people in the state. Till now, vaccine doses have been given to 5,27,193 people aged between 18 and 45 years.
Additional Chief Secretary Information Navneet Sehgal said that there is no shortage of medical oxygen and medicine in the state along with Covid beds. Now more than 300 plants producing oxygen from the air are being set up in the state.
Along with this, ration ration holders of around 3,30,00,000 will be given free ration in the state from May 20. Now, the workers of organized and unorganized sector in the state will also be given financial assistance of Rs. 1,000 every month.
