Pune: As the Covid cases are rising in the Ahmednagar district, the Ahmednagar district administration has imposed a full lockdown in 61 villages from today till October 13 and also issued orders prohibiting more than five persons from gathering in these villages from today onwards.
Talking to UNI the Ahmednagar district collector Dr Rajendra Bhosale said that cases of Corona are increasing day by day and in this 61 village, and the positive rate has reached more than five per cent.
Therefore, he said it has been decided to fully lock down these 61 villages of Ahmednagar district.
Dr Bhosale said that 13 talukas of this district are strongly affected including Sangamner, Shrigonda, Rahata, Parner, Akole, Karjat, Kopargaon, Nevasa and few others.
The Collector further said that the supply of only essential services like medicine and milk will remain open during such a period.
The district collector also appealed to people to follow guidelines issued by the district administration and not to violate rules till the situation returns to normal in all these 61 villages.
The district is recording 500 to 800 positive cases every day from the last few days while active cases have gone to more than 10 per cent in the recent past, the full lockdown was the only solution to prevent the present crisis said a health official.
