46 dead, 11 missing in Uttarakhand due to heavy rains

Dehradun: A total of 46 people have been confirmed killed in Uttarakhand due to heavy rains and landslides while at least 11 are missing, official sources said. A total of 12 people have been rushed to hospitals since Sunday.

An official spokesperson told UNI on Wednesday that 28 people died in Nainital district, six in Almora, two each in Champawat and Rudrapur and one in Bageshwar on Tuesday.

Ten people were injured and 11 are still missing, he said.

At least nine buildings were damaged in a single day due to heavy rains and landslides that have completely destroyed railway tracks in Kathgodam.

The Uttarakhand government spokesperson said on Monday, three people died in Pauri district, two in Champawat and one in Pithoragarh. Two persons were injured and a house was damaged on the same day.

On Sunday, one person died and 12 were injured in Champawat district due to the rains that wreaked maximum havoc in Kumaon region.
