3.25 kg of IED bomb and 3 detonators recovered in Meghalaya

Shillong: Meghalaya police on Friday recovered 3.25 Kg of Improvised Explosives Devices of Class-II explosives and three detonators from a village in West Garo Hills district, police said.

Based on credible source information, a joint team of State police and CRPF troopers conducted a raid and recovered the IED bomb from Mengotchigre village under Tikrikilla police station.
A team from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad disposed of both the IEDs in-situ.

Police said a manhunt is on to nab the persons who are involved in the illegal act , even as a case has been registered at Tikrikilla police station.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the recovered of live IEDs from Garo Hills was part of the police’s operation to keep the people of the state safe.

“As part of our operations to show that we keep a track and control and ensure that people of the state are safe many operations and many such searches are going on based on information, intel collected in almost every districts,” the Chief Minister told reporters.

Stating that the recovery was part of the exercise, Sangma also congratulated the police team of West Garo Hills district who has working very hard to ensure that the security and safety of the people is maintained.
