Bishnupur: All polling personnel along with the EVMs and VVPATs to be used for polling were escorted in over 470 vehicles from the Mini Secretariat complex, Bishnupur to their respective polling stations by armed security personnel Sunday.
With the complete dispersal of polling and security personnel for poll duty in the district, Bishnupur is now all set for the first phase of voting for the 12th Manipur Assembly Election, 2022.
Altogether 185223 electors of the district will cast their votes across the 234 polling stations to decide the fate of 22 contesting candidates in the fray for the 6 seats in the district. Moirang AC is in the lead with maximum voters with its 39876 electors while Kumbi has the least electors standing at 22984.
7 polling stations in the district are classified as sensitive while 49 are marked as critical and vulnerable stations. Meanwhile, in addition to the 12 polling stations designated as model polling stations, 50 polling stations will be managed exclusively by women including armed security personnel.
Mention may be made that postal ballots for police and civilians on election duty have been facilitated earlier apart from the Absentee Voters PwD and Senior Citizens 80+.
Actual polling in all polling stations will be held from 7am till 4pm after conducting mock poll of fifty votes by polling agents. In addition to the entire District Election Officials teams, five election observers comprising of 2 General Observers, 2 Expenditure Observers and a Police Observer are stationed in the district to ensure smooth conduct of the whole election process.
