18 new Covid cases in Meghalaya

The state has so far registered 94146 confirmed Covid19 cases including 1595 cases of fatality.

Shillong: The number of daily Covid-19 cases has been on the continuous rise with 18 new cases of infection adding up to 115 active cases, even as six more cases of recovery from the viral infection surged the number of recovered cases to 92436 on Tuesday, health officials said. 

The state has so far registered 94146 confirmed Covid19 cases including 1595 cases of fatality.

As per official statistics, the number of active Covid19 cases increased to 56 in the most pandemic-hit East Khasi Hills, which includes the state capital Shillong with the district accounting for 10 new cases of infection besides two cases of recovery from the viral disease on Tuesday.

Ri-Bhoi reported five new cases today with the number of active cases in the district going up to 20, West Garo Hills reported two cases with the number of active cases in the district at 32 and West Jaintia Hills reported one case with the number of active cases in the district at five, as per the latest official case count. 

“Eleven Covid19 infected patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the state,” health officials said, adding that six out of the total 12 districts in the state had no active Covid-19 case as on date.

On the other hand, 32139 health care workers have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, 29507 have been administered with the second dose and 9974 have taken the third precaution dose, while 97028 front-line workers have been vaccinated with the first dose, 85709 have received the second dose and 29157 have got the precaution shot, even as 1301351 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose, 948783 have been fully vaccinated with the second dose and 10119 citizens have taken the booster dose across the state as on date.
