114 new Covid positive cases recorded in Meghalaya

The number of active Covid-19 cases was 118 in the East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong with the district reporting 15 new cases of infection today followed by South West Garo

Shillong: The surge in Covid-19 infection continued in Meghalaya with 114 new cases recorded on Thursday that increased the number of active cases to 687, health officials said.

So far, the state has recorded 95198 confirmed Covid-19 cases, including 1605 deaths and 92906 cases of recovery. The West Garo Hills, including Tura reported the maximum number of 70 new cases today with the district accounting for 400 active cases, the highest in the state.

The number of active Covid-19 cases was 118 in the East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong with the district reporting 15 new cases of infection today followed by South West Garo 

Hills, which reported 10 new cases with the number of active cases in the district at 43, as per official statistics.

On the other hand, South Garo Hills reported six new Covid-19 cases with the number of active cases in the district at 25, West Jaintia Hills reported five cases with the number of active cases in the district at 21, Ri-Bhoi reported three cases with the number of active cases in the district at 40, North Garo Hills reported two cases with the number of active cases in the district at 12, while East Garo Hills, Eastern West Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills reported one case each with the number of active cases in the districts being six, eight and seven respectively, according to the latest official case count.

“At present 66 Covid-19 infected patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the state,” a health official said.

Meanwhile, according to the National Health Mission record, 32,139 health care workers have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, 29,513 have been administered with the second 

dose and 10,238 have taken the third precaution dose, while 97,029 front-line workers have been vaccinated with the first dose, 85,735 have received the second dose and 30,149 have got the precaution shot, even as 13,04,638 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose, 9,53,763 have been fully vaccinated with the second dose and 13,389 citizens have taken the booster dose across the state till date.
