Imphal: Reflecting a core commitment towards youth empowerment, sports promotion and community welfare, Assam Rifles organised a series of civic support initiatives and civil-security interaction meetings across Chandel, Bishnupur and Ukhrul districts of Manipur on 29 and 30 July 2026. The coordinated efforts focused on nurturing athletic talent, promoting local security cooperation, countering misinformation and addressing developmental concerns to foster lasting peace and harmony in the region.
On 29 July 2026, Assam Rifles extended financial assistance and essential support to Cheengkhu Youth & Cultural Club, Chandel District. The aid was aimed at encouraging and facilitating the participation of the club’s players in the upcoming State-level Volleyball Competition organised by the Government of Manipur from 01 August to 05 August 2026 at Khuman Lampak, Imphal West District. To assist members and ease their preparation for the sporting event, essential household and ration items were provided, comprising 50 kg Atta, 08 kg Dal, 20 kg Sugar, 03 kg Tea, 12 litres TPM, 50 kg of Ragi, Jowar and Bajra each, 06 kg Salt and 02 kg Coffee. The initiative served as a catalyst for youth development, discipline and teamwork, providing young athletes with a platform to build confidence and enhance their capabilities. Members of Cheengkhu Youth & Cultural Club expressed their sincere gratitude to Assam Rifles for the timely assistance and continued efforts towards supporting local talent and community welfare.
In a parallel initiative to strengthen civil-security cooperation and ensure a peaceful environment, Assam Rifles organised a Security Meet at Wainem Village under Company Operating Base Irengbam, Bishnupur District on 30 July 2026. The interaction brought together 57 villagers, including Village Chairman, Village Chairman, 34 men and 22 women, providing a constructive platform to discuss local security concerns, developmental issues and measures to strengthen community participation in maintaining stability. During the meeting, Assam Rifles sensitised the attendees on the prevailing security situation, the importance of communal harmony, prevention of anti-social activities and drug abuse, timely sharing of information regarding suspicious activities and the responsible use of social media to counter rumours and misinformation. Villagers highlighted concerns related to road connectivity, agriculture, education, employment opportunities and implementation of government welfare schemes, which Assam Rifles assured would be forwarded to appropriate authorities. The interaction highlighted various humanitarian and civic action initiatives undertaken by the Force, reinforcing mutual trust and shared commitment towards a peaceful and progressive Manipur.
Furthering peace and stability in the region, Assam Rifles organised a Security Interaction Meeting chaired by a senior official at Shangshak Garrison, Ukhrul District on 29 July 2026. The meeting witnessed the participation of 33 representatives from surrounding villages, including village headmen, secretaries, members of Civil Society Organisations, student union leaders and representatives of local organisations. The interaction focused on maintaining close coordination between security forces and the local population, the importance of public cooperation in preserving peace in Ukhrul District and responsible community participation in maintaining law and order. The senior official also discussed the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act in notified disturbed areas, explaining that the Act provides the legal framework enabling security forces to counter insurgency and maintain public order in support of civil administration. It was reaffirmed that all operations undertaken by Assam Rifles are conducted strictly within the provisions of the law, with professionalism, restraint and due respect for the rights and dignity of every citizen. Representatives acknowledged the outreach efforts of Assam Rifles, expressing their willingness to extend continuous support towards initiatives aimed at ensuring regional peace, security and overall public welfare.
