Regarding the motive, T Phulen said that apart from recreational purposes, the small fishes will eat up the dirt and unwanted objects from the canal and will cleanse the canal. He added that the department is considering setting up a tourism and adventure-based recreational site using pedal boats for the public at this canal when the COVID situation improves.

He also appealed to those staying inside the sports complex and those residents of the adjacent localities to support this initiative and not to disturb and catch the fish.
