Imphal: In what is the worst day yet, Manipur saw 15 deaths, the highest recorded till date since the Covid pandemic hit the state. Over this, it also had 579 new positive cases (571 general population and 8 CAPF) and 135 recoveries in the last 4 hours leading up to 5:00 pm of Sunday, as per an official release from the Covid-19 Common Control Room.
The 15 persons who succumbed to the pandemic include a male from Imphal West aged 65 yrs, a female from Imphal West aged 72 yrs, a male from Imphal West aged 24 yrs, a female from Kakching aged 79 yrs, a male from Imphal East aged 66 yrs. A female from Churachandpur aged 72 yrs, a male from Imphal West aged 60 yrs, a male from Imphal West aged 51 yrs, a male from Imphal East aged 36 yrs, a male from Imphal West aged 43 yrs, a male Imphal East aged 58 yrs, a male from Imphal West aged 49 yrs, a male from Imphal East aged 48 yrs, a male from Imphal East aged 39 yrs and a female from Imphal East aged 78 yrs who expired at Shija Hospital (5). DH Churachandpur (I), Raj Medicity (2), JNIMS (6), and RIMS(1 ) hospital respectively. The cumulative number of deaths is 476.
Of the 571 persons (307M, 264F) from the general population, 197 of them are from Imphal West, 191 from Imphal East (191), 42 from Thoubal (42), 40 from Churachandpur, 37 from Kakching, 34 from Bishnupur, 8 from Kangpokpi, 6 from Ukhrul, 3 each from Kamjong and Noney, 2 each Senapati and Tamenglong and 1 from Chandel.
During the same period, 135 persons recovered which included 89 from home isolation, 12 from RD Wing, 9 each from CAPF and RIMS, 6 from SHRI, 4 each from RAIMED and Churachandpur and 1 each from BB and Bishnupur. The recovery rate in the state now stands at 86.54 %.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 35,354 (General Population – 31,6% and Central Security Personnel – 3,658). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 30,598 (General Population – 27,120 and Central Security Personnel – 3.478). The number of active cases is 4280 (General Population – 4105 and Central Security Personnel – 175). 7. In the last 24 hours, a total of 1036 I) type Oxygen Cylinders and 333 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur.
As per latest information, the total number of persons vaccinated is 265921.
Meanwhile, the Health Department has directed air passengers who travelled to the State on May 7, 2021 by Indigo flights (i) 6E-2615 in rows 8-20 (ii) 6E-6358 in rows 1-4 are to inform the Common Covid Control Room 1800-345-3818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) for further surveillance and necessary testing.
The official release further advised all persons above the age of 45 years to get vaccinated immediately at vaccine centres of RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, and select private hospitals.
