Dharamshala: Angry cricket lovers on Wednesday protested against the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, alleging “mismanagement” in ticket distribution for the India-New Zealand World Cup match here on October 22.

The cricket fans, who arrived at the HPCA gates as early as 5 AM to procure tickets for the game scheduled at the Dharàmshala HPCA International stadium, had to return empty-handed after standing in the queue for hours as the offline counter did not open.

The youths raised slogans against HPCA and alleged that tickets for the tie were being sold in the black market at exorbitant amounts.

A young fan Akshay Kumar told UNI that the online portal was not functioning well and so they were forced to reach the HPCA counter, but even then luck did not favour them.

Navjeet Singh, another cricket lover, wondered how 23,000 tickets got sold within minutes and the offline counters were kept closed.

Yogesh Pathania, another ticket seeker, alleged despite a six-hour wait at the offline counter, no HPCA official came to communicate why the counter was not opening.
