World Bank allocates USD 100 Million for Sikkim’s inclusive growth

Gangtok: The Sikkim Government is taking up institutional reforms for inclusive growth, as part of a USD 100 million World Bank funded programme, an official said on Wednesday.
The Sikkim Integrated Service Provision And Innovation For Reviving Economies (INSPIRES) programme is tied to the State Planning & Development Department.
Presenting an overview of the programme, Task Team Leader, Lead Economist, World Bank, Benedict Leroy said that Sikkim has been trying to go to the next step of development through revival of the economy.
The programme will support the state government’s efforts to boost economic inclusion of women and youth by promoting non-farm sectors.
“The focus will be on planning capacity, skilling, and providing an enabling eco system for economic inclusion and entrepreneurship,” said Project Director Rohini Pradhan, Additional Secretary, Planning Department.
He highlighted the challenges faced and policies on the anvil for an improved economy.
