Working relentlessly to maintain peace: Jiribam DC

Jiribam: Deputy Commissioner Jiribam Krishna Kumar, IAS, on Wednesday stated that the District Administration, with the help of various security forces, have been working relentlessly towards maintaining peace and making the Internally Displaced persons (IDPs) residing in different relief camps of the district return to their original homes. This was stated by him while inspecting the conditions and standard of relief camps opened in the district. 

During the visit, Krishna Kumar interacted with the IDPs residing in relief camps opened at Bidyanagar Sports Complex, Harinagar Children Home and Jiribam Higher Secondary School and enquired about the facilities provided in the camps and heard the problems faced by them. 

He also appreciated the Relief Camp committee for regularly organizing social service programmes on every Sunday and added that such programmes would reduce mental stress apart from maintaining cleanliness in and around the campus. 

Highlighting the importance of providing livelihood activities to the IDPs, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the concerned DLOs should facilitate the marketing of the products of the relief camps including the handicraft items to local markets and e-commerce platforms. 

Stressing on the need to maintain hygiene in the relief camps to prevent diseases, he instructed the health department to take up necessary measures and regular visits to effectively prevent any form of outbreak and spread of diseases. 

Instructing the District Level Officers of the district to regularly visit the relief camps, Krishna Kumar also added all necessary assistance should be provided by the concerned departments to the camps. 

The visit was accompanied by Superintendent of Police, Jiribam Sheikh MohdZaibZakir, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam Th. Manoranjan, EO Jiribam Municipal Council and Nodal Officer Relief Camps, M. Surjit Singh, CMO Jiribam, SDCs, DLOs and members of District Level Executive Committee of Relief Camp, Jiribam.
