Woman among four held in drug case in Manipur

The drugs came from Moreh and was delivered to another person in Churachandpur. The arrested person collected the drugs from Churachandpur to deliver at Kwakta area.

Imphal: Four persons including a woman were nabbed by Manipur Police in four separate incidents. 

Police said on Thursday a team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB-PS) conducted surprise checking of suspected persons at Kwakta, Bishenpur district and nabbed a women identified as Lhingneikim with 50 Soap cases containing suspected Heroin Powder weighing about 651 grams. The value at local market was about Rs 13 lakhs.

The drugs came from Moreh and was delivered to another person in Churachandpur. The arrested person collected the drugs from Churachandpur to deliver at Kwakta area.  

In another incident on Thursday Imphal West police apprehended two drug smugglers from North AOC and were identified as T. Paolenlal Haokip and Jangkholen Haokip . From their possession, 36 nos of soap cases containing suspected Heroin powder weighing around 460 grams were recovered.

In yet another incident on Thursday Moreh police personnel while performing regular patrolling near Sunrise ground saw a man coming towards Moreh in a Kenbo bike. He was told to stop but he quickly ran away towards Tamu side in the dark, leaving a bag behind. The patrolling team have recovered nearly 1 lakh WY tablets from the bag.

In the fourth incident Imphal West arrested one drug smuggler identified as Md. Abdul Gafar from North AOC along with 30,000 (approx) WY Tablets. Md. Abdul Gafar disclosed that the recovered WY tablets were supposed to be delivered to one Md. Itabi of Kwakta, now residing in Guwahati.
