With 7 deaths, 362 positive cases Monday, Manipur sees the worst day yet

Imphal: With seven deaths and 342 positive cases, Manipur saw the worst day in the last 24 hours leading to 5:00 pm of Monday since the 2nd wave of the coronavirus pandemic hit the state, as per an official release from the Covid-19 Common Control Room.

The seven persons, who succumbed to Covid-19, include a 45-year-old female resident of Thoubal,  a 64-year-old female from Imphal West and a 50-year-old-male from Imphal West all of whom expired at Shija Hospital. Then we have a 59-year-old male from Imphal East who expired at Raj Medicity and a 43-year-old male personnel of CAPF from Kakching,  a 60-year-old female resident of Imphal West and a 54-year-old male from Thoubal, all of whom expired at RIMS. The cumulative death toll due to the pandemic in the state now stands at 422.

Of the 362 persons (205 males 157 females) who tested positive from the general population, 146 of them are from Imphal West, 122 are from Imphal East, 23 from Kakching, 22 from Bishnupur,14 each from Thoubal and Churachandpur, 5 from Chandel, 2 each from Tamenglong and Noney and 1 each from Ukhrul and Kamjong.

During the last 24 hours, there were also 107 recoveries which include 75 from home isolation, 16 RIMS, 10 from CAPF, 3 from SHRI, 2 from RD Wing and 1 from Raj Medicity. The recovery rate in the state slips further to 92.33%.

 Meanwhile, the Health Department has instructed air passengers who travelled to the state on April 25 by Indigo Flight 6E-6181 in rows 16 – 21, on indigo Flight  6E – 21 in rows 29 – 35,  to inform Covid Common Control Room 1800343818 or respective District Surveillance Officer (DSO).

The cumulative number of positive cases now stands at 32,523 (General Population — 28,938 and Central Security Personnel — 3,585). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 30,030 (General Population — 26,568 CAPF— 3,462). The number of active cases is 2071 (general population 1953 CAPF 118).

As per the latest information, the total number of vaccination 209074.

The official release further advised all persons above the age of 45 years to get vaccinated immediately at vaccine centres of RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, and select private hospitals.
