With 1032 new cases, Manipur sees continuous rise in COVID-19 infections, 17 deaths

According to the official health bulletin, the state has 8,482 active COVID-19 cases.

Imphal: Manipur registered 1032 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the state health department said on Thursday morning.

The state also recorded 17 COVID-related deaths while 563 COVID-infected patients recovered from the infection over the last 24 hours.

One person each at Shija Hospital, Babina and District Hospital Ukhrul, five at District Hospital Churachandpur, two at Raj Medicity, four at JNIMS and three RIMS hospital expired.

Among the death was ex-Minister Wangkheimayum Brajbidhu Singh of Lamsang Assembly constituency. Born on 1st March 1949 in Lamdeng Mayai Leikai, Brajabidhu was the chief functionary of Rural Development Organisation (RDO), Lamdeng from 1975 to 2002 and attended numerous international conferences in more than 10 countries.

Expressing condolences, Consumer Affairs Minister Th Satyabrata Singh said Brajabidhu’s contribution for uplifting the poor and deprived people of Lamsang Kendra are beyond words. He was a leader and political figure for society in true spirit. The state will always remember him, he added.

According to the official health bulletin, the state has 8,482 active COVID-19 cases.

The state conducted 7,12,778 tests so far and 40,607 people have recovered from the disease so far.

As per the state government data, out of the total reported cases, Imphal West district accounted for the most number of cases with 310, followed by Imphal East district at 281 and Churachandpur at 100.

While the cumulative number of positive cases stood at 49,882, the recovery rate is 81.40 per cent, which is lower than the previous day.

In the last 24 hours a total of 1875 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 512 B-type cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur.

As per latest information, the total number of persons who were vaccinated at different health facilities and institutions is 6834.   

The country, on the other hand, recorded a single-day rise of 1,65,553 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest in 46 days, taking the country’s infection tally to 2,78,94,800, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday

The daily positivity declined to 8.02 per cent, remaining below the 10 per cent-mark for the sixth consecutive day, while the weekly positivity rate dropped to 9.36 per cent, it said.
