Mumbai: Former Mumbai police chief Param Bir Singh on Friday stated that he will legally challenge his suspension order issued yesterday by the Maharashtra government.
Talking to media persons here, IPS Singh said that he has refused to accept the suspension letter from Maharashtra Director General of Police Sanjay Pandey.
He further said that he will take legal expert opinion and then challenge his suspension in court.
On Thursday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray signed on Mr Singh’s suspension file on the grounds of indiscipline and irregularities, extortion and atrocities cases registered against him.
The action was taken after Mr Singh skipped several summonses issued by the investigation agency and subsequently an inquiry committee was constituted.
The committee, headed by Additional Chief Secretary (Planning) Debashish Chakraborty, was tasked to investigate the violation of civil service rules by Mr Singh.
Based on the committee report, the suspension order was issued against Mr Singh who landed in hot water after alleged Rs 100 crore corruption charge against ex-home minister Anil Deshmukh.
