Mysuru: Giving reason for being silent on corruption charges against BJP government, former Prime Minister and JDS patriarch HD Deve Gowda on Saturday said no one is honest in the present-day scenario because no one can do politics without money.
“Wasn’t there corruption during the Congress rule? The Prime Minister had talked about 10 per cent of the government in the past. He spoke, not me. I am not speaking about it because in the present-day scenario one can do politics only with money. Politics has become that much dirty. Who is honest? Can anyone tell me? Therefore, I don’t say anything on it,” he told reporters here.
Earlier, the former PM participated in Janata Jaladhare, a campaign started by JDS to implement irrigation and drinking water projects in India in a time-bound manner.
Asked to comment on contractors being forced to part away with 40 percent as commission to get the contract, Gowda said the question can be posed to him only if his son was either the Public Works or Irrigation Minister.Â
