Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister and BJP leader Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday said that the NDA would return to power in the state with more seats than before.
“We are very confident that we will continue our journey as the ruling government…people all across that state have reposed tremendous faith in the BJP and its allies,” Mr Sonowal said in his first media address after three phase polls got over in the state on April 6.
“We will return to power with more seats than before….it was possible due to continuous development of the state,” he said.
Sonowal thanked the people of the state for participating in the election exercise.
He also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Party President J P Nadda and other BJP leaders who had planned the entire election campaign.
He specially thanked Himanta Biswa Sarma for his relentless campaign across the length and breadth of the country.
He said the three-phase polling was by and large peaceful and it reflected that his government was successful in restoring peace in Assam after decades of insurgency and violence.
