Imphal: Manipur’s Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh, is confident that a resolution will be achieved within the next 2-3 months. He noted that although incidents were recorded over 14 months, the acute crisis lasted only 6-7 months.

Speaking at the International Yoga Day event at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium, Biren Singh remarked, “Violence is a challenge everywhere, but it has notably diminished in Manipur. Despite sporadic incidents in some areas, schools and businesses have reopened across the state, signaling a return to normalcy.”

He elaborated, “The major crisis lasted only 6-7 months, with the subsequent months witnessing relative peace as schools and businesses resumed operations.”

Acknowledging persistent violence in certain areas due to inadequate security personnel, he assured that the situation is improving. He mentioned that security forces, previously engaged in election duties, have now been redeployed to vulnerable areas. “The situation will improve from now onwards,” he added.

Addressing allegations of ongoing violence instigation in the state, N. Biren Singh attributed the unrest to external factors. He asserted, “The disturbances in Northeast India stem from inflow and drug issues originating from outside the region. Once we identify the source, addressing the situation will become more manageable.”
