Shillong: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu arrived in Meghalaya’s state capital Shillong on Monday morning.
Governor Satya Pal Malik, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, Chief Secretary Rebecca Vanessa Suchiang received him at Raj Bhavan.
The Vice President will lay the foundation stone of the Upgradation of NH- 40 between Shillong to Dawki road at State Convention Centre.
The Rs 1,251 crore road project is being funded by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The strategic National Highway-40 from Shillong to Tamabil links Meghalaya with Bangladesh.
The Vice President will also address a workshop on “Changing Role of North Eastern Council in the Development of North Eastern Region” at North Eastern Council secretariat.
