Veterinary Minister visits livestock & dairy farms

During the field visit, Shri O. Lukhoi thoroughly checked the facilities and infrastructures being set up to ensure it is fully functional.

Imphal/Kakching: Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh visited various livestock and dairy farms in Imphal West, Imphal East and Kakching Districts Sunday.

The Minister first visited the Porompat Dairy Plant, Intensive Cattle Development Project (ICDP) Complex, Porompat followed by Marjing Pony Complex, Pangei, Imphal East District, Hiyanglam Piggery Farm, Kakching Dsitrict and Regional Buffalo Breeding Farm, Wabagai, Kakching District. During the field visit, Shri O. Lukhoi thoroughly checked the facilities and infrastructures being set up to ensure it is fully functional.

Addressing the media, Minister Lukhoi expressed the state government is always committed towards the growth of economy in the state in which AH & Veterinary Department will continue to play a vital role.

While expressing satisfaction on the maintenance of the farms, he also assured that the Chief Minister will be consulted to enhance the budget of the department for upgrading its facilities and infrastructures from prevailing condition and improve the surroundings of the farms to prevent from emitting any harmful diseases from the animals.

Veterinary Minister further informed that Pigs for rearing which were imported from UK are now at Punjab and will be brought to the state after the cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) are fully controlled.

Director, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services, Manipur, Dr H. Chaoba Singh, Joint Director, Dr. Nandakishore, concerned officers and officials of the Department were also present during the visit.
