Agartala: Veteran communist leader and former jail minister of left front government Manindra Reang joined royal scion TIPRA Motha on Saturday in a mammoth rally in Jolaibari of South Tripura.
After losing the 2018 assembly elections in Santirbazar constituency, he had earlier joined Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) as president of Tripura state unit in July 2019.
Manindra remained in CPI, a partner of the left front though he was forced to resign from the ministry in 2005 when the cabinet was downsized from 18 to 12 members. He was reinstated in the cabinet in 2013 and became minister of Manik Sarkar’s government.
Reang had fought the 2018 election on a CPI ticket but lost. Allegedly, after BJP-IPFT came to power like others he also faced attack and humiliation in the locality and then joined JD (U).
However, with the rise of Trinamool Congress last year after West Bengal elections, Manindra Reang had tried to join TMC but not found a place. Since then, Reang got connected with royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarman and finally joined TIPRA with over a hundred of his followers.
Addressing the gathering Pradyot said TIPRA Motha in it’s short political journey has won the heart of indigenous population of Tripura and now, people have not been relying on other parties.
However, Motha believes in inclusive politics and a door kept open for the leaders who sincerely wish to work for the development indigenous communities and holistic development of the state beyond narrow interest, Pradyot reiterated.
“After getting in power of ADC, TIPRA Motha has done whatever is exemplary in the history of ADC. Recently, a meeting was held with a renowned private hospital group to set up a full-fledged healthcare unit in ADC, which will provide the best quality treatment for the people of the state,” he pointed out adding that the party is committed to do the best for the state.
