Imphal: Manipur’s Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh, attended the “Tiranga Concerts” as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign, organized under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav by the Department of Art and Culture at the Manipur State Film Development Society, Palace Compound, Imphal.

During the event, the Chief Minister urged the people of Manipur to take the initiative in cleaning the statues of freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country and to pay floral tributes in their honor. He emphasized that the freedom and dignified lives enjoyed today are due to the selfless sacrifices of these great leaders. Furthermore, he encouraged Ministers and MLAs to organize lunches at various relief camps on Independence Day, sharing meals with the inmates, and addressing their concerns and grievances.

The Chief Minister noted that a renewed sense of nationalism and patriotism has emerged among the people of India since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014. He highlighted that it was Modi who elevated the significance of Yoga on the global stage through his proposal at the United Nations General Assembly.

Biren Singh also mentioned that under Narendra Modi’s leadership, G20 events were held across various parts of India during the country’s presidency of the summit, bringing delegates from different nations to diverse corners of the country. Such initiatives, he said, have fostered a sense of unity and belonging among the people.

Continuing on this theme, he pointed out that campaigns like Har Ghar Tiranga have further strengthened the spirit of nationalism, unity, and oneness among citizens. He instructed the Director General of Police to organize a large-scale motorbike rally on August 15th, encouraging mass participation from the youth. He also called on the people of Manipur to take part in rallies, street plays, marathons, and painting competitions organized under the campaign.

In praising the principals, officials, and students of state colleges for singing the National Anthem and State Song during morning assemblies, Biren Singh remarked that such practices have instilled a consciousness of unity, discipline, and nationalism among the people. He stressed that unity, discipline, and nationalism are the cornerstones of a strong nation, and it is crucial to strengthen the nation to ensure its self-sufficiency and security. Expressing concern over the challenges India faces in the current geopolitical climate, he underscored the importance of fortifying the country to successfully tackle these challenges.

The event featured performances, including Pung Cholom by artistes from Manipur University of Culture, patriotic songs by artistes from Shri Shri Bal Mukund Dev Music College, and a dance choreographed to the Tiranga Anthem by the Government Dance College.

The program was attended by several dignitaries, including Minister of Works Govindas Konthoujam; Minister for Water Resources Awangbow Newmai; Minister for IPR Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh; Minister for CAF&PD Leishangthem Susindro Meitei; Minister for Veterinary Kashim Vashum; MLAs; DGP Rajiv Singh; Administrative Secretaries; officials of the Art and Culture department; and renowned artistes from the state.
