Union Minister RK Ranjan attends PM’s interaction programme via video conferencing

Imphal/Bishnupur/Kakching: Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Education, Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Monday attended the nationwide interaction programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with various beneficiaries of schemes taken up by the Government of India through video-conferencing.

For Imphal West District, the interaction programme was organized by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Imphal West at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat, Imphal.  

Speaking as the Chief Guest, Dr. R.K. Ranjan said that there had been strong political turbulence in the country before the coming of Narendra Modi led Government at the Centre. Because of the state of affairs, there was no momentum of development but since 2014, after the coming of BJP led government at the Centre, many developmental activities had been taken up in a strong pace. He said, now is the time to recapitulate the developmental activities targeting inclusive and sustainable benefits to the people taken up by the government.

Stating that there had been many laws during the British regime that hampered the development in the country, he said as many as 1,500 such acts have been scrapped by the government. Regarding the Arm Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA, 1958), Dr. Ranjan said that Narendra Modi led government is actively considering replacing the act with a new humanitarian law. On Act East Policy, he mentioned that there will be more economic activities in the state as a gateway to Southeast Asia under the policy.

Meanwhile, District Administration Bishnupur joined the nation in Garib Kalyan Sammelan: Hon’ble Prime Minister’s interaction with beneficiaries of various schemes/programmes through virtual mode today at Kiyamba Shanglen in Bishnupur. 

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Public Works, Govindas Konthoujam, said that the interaction is being held to understand how these schemes have brought about ease of living for the citizens. He added that it will also help in exploring the possibilities of convergence and saturation.  

Reiterating the slogan ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’, he added that sincere implementation of the schemes will result in overcoming poverty, ensuring sustainable livelihood means for unemployed youths and also bring about overall development in the district.

The event was attended by MLAs of the district Tongbram Robindro Singh; Irengbam Nalini Devi; Thongam Shanti Singh; Bishnupur DC, Lourembam Bikram; SP Bishnupur, N. Herojit and Dr. Rebika Soibam, DFO, Bishnupur, SDOs, DLOs and other officials of the district.

On the other hand, District Administration, Kakching today organized the district level function of Garib Kalyan Sammelan, a virtual interaction of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the beneficiaries of  Public welfare schemes at Kakching Wairi Kongoi Community Hall. 

MLA Wangjing Tentha AC, Paonam Brojen Singh; MLA Wabgai AC, Dr. Usham Deben Singh; MLA Hiyanglam AC, Yumnam Radheshyam Singh, and Adhyakshya Kakching Zila Parishad ,Phuritsabam Jiten Singh, attended the programme as the chief guest, guest of honours and President respectively.

Deputy Commissioner, Kakching Somorjit Salam in his welcome address highlighted the various schemes being implemented in the district. Four selected beneficiaries shared their experiences and lauded the PM and CM.
