Imphal: Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Union Minister of State (MoS) for Rural Development and Communications, visited Kakching district on Wednesday.
Accompanied by Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar, Deputy Commissioner Rohit Anand, Sanjiv Ranjan, Chief Postmaster General (CPMG) of the North East Circle, Shillong, and other officials, the MoS inaugurated the Kakching Post Office building with staff quarters at Kakching Phoushupat Leikai.
Upon arrival at the DC Office Complex, Dr. Sekhar received a warm welcome from Deputy Commissioner Rohit Anand and the district administration officials. He then chaired a review meeting with the District Administration Kakching and relevant stakeholders, including Somorjit Salam, Special Secretary, RD&PR, to discuss ongoing developmental projects in the district.
Later, the MoS, along with MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar and the district administration team, visited two relief camps at Kha Manipur College and Langmeidong Higher Secondary School. At Kha Manipur College, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) presented Dr. Sekhar with Kouna grass crafts and interacted with him. The MoS also inspected Kakching Hospital.
The team further inspected various projects under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Amrit Sarovar, and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna – Gramin (PMAY-G) at different locations, including the Langmeidong area.
