Union minister Ashwini Kumar felicitates distinguish sports players of Manipur

The Minister congratulated all the sportspersons for their contribution to sports and games. He also said that they are an inspiration for the future generation and lauded them for their continuous efforts to improve the sporting culture in the State.

Imphal: Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Ashwini Kumar Choubey felicitated national and international level sportspersons from various fields and who have won medals in Olympics and other global sports events. The felicitation function was held at Hotel Classic, Imphal Tuesday.

The sportspersons felicitated by the Union Minister of State for their distinguished achievements include hockey player  Ksh Thoiba who represented India at Seoul Olympic, 1988, Nilakanta Sharma, Bronze medalist in the recently held Tokyo Olympics, 2020,  Arjuna Awardee Chinglen Sana Singh who had represented India at Rio Olympics, 2016, Judo player Kumari Sushila Likmabam who represented India at Tokyo Olympics, 2020, Arjuna Awardee L Sarita Devi, World Champion Boxing, 2006 and Asian Gold medalist and Silver medalist in Common Wealth Games, Wushu player Bimoljit Singh, three times participant at Asian Games and two times Bronze medalist at Doha, Qatar, Sepak Takraw player Kh. Niken Singh, Asian Games Bronze Medalist at Jakarta, Indonesia, 2008, Akash Yumnam, Asian Games Gold medalist at Jakarta, Indonesia, 2008, Sepak Takraw player Seitaram Singh, Asian Games Bronze medalist at Jakarta, Indonesia 2008, Ng. Jotin Singh Sepak Takraw, Asian Games Bronze medalist, Jakarta, Indonesia, 2008, W Sanjeck Singh, Sepak Takraw Asian Games Bronze medalist, Jakarta, Indonesia 2008, Malemnganba Singh, Asian Games Bronze Medalist Jakarta, Indonesia, W Henry Singh Asian Games Bronze medalist Jakarta, Y Sanathoi Devi, Wushu player and Asian Games Bronze medalist Korea, 2014, and International Weightlifter –turned Coach and Dhyan Chand Awardee L Anita Chanu who participated in Asian Games.

The Minister congratulated all the sportspersons for their contribution to sports and games. He also said that they are an inspiration for the future generation and lauded them for their continuous efforts to improve the sporting culture in the State.

The Minister expressed his hope and belief that the talented youths from Manipur will bring laurels for the country under the able guidance of decorated and distinguished sports
