Imphal: Secretary Department of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of, Health and Family Welfare has written to the Chief Secretaries of all States, Union Territories to ensure Covid vaccination of vulnerable groups like destitutes and vagabonds, beggars and nomads.
Pointing out that the Ministry of Health has already advised all States/UTs, in a letter dated May 6, 20i1, for providing covid vaccination to such group of people like beggars, nomads, people residing in rehabilitation camps etc while following the SOPS regarding vaccination of persons who do not possess prescribed identity card’, the letter urged the Chief Secretaries to direct the concerned Departments of Social Justice and Empowerment and Health to work together to facilitate their vaccination.
Concerned Departments of the State Government are also ad vised to take the help of NGOs/CSOs and public spirited citizens/volunteers in this endeavour. Special session may be planned for conducting the vaccination for this group of persons, the letter added.
