UN to send more humanitarian aid to Ukraine

The UN chief in a telephonic conversation with Zelenskyy on Saturday said, "The United Nations would launch on Tuesday an appeal to fund our humanitarian operations in Ukraine."

United Nations: United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of more humanitarian aid.

The UN chief in a telephonic conversation with Zelenskyy on Saturday said, “The United Nations would launch on Tuesday an appeal to fund our humanitarian operations in Ukraine.”

The Secretary-General’s phone call and the announcement of a humanitarian appeal follow his decision this past Thursday to release $20 million from the UN emergency relief fund to meet the urgent needs in Ukraine, according to UN.

Meanwhile, the UN spokesperson has said that Guterres will not be travelling to Geneva amid the Ukraine situation. “Due to the aggravating situation in Ukraine, Antonio Guterres is remaining in New York and will not travel to Geneva as planned.

He will deliver a video message to theUNHRC meeting on Monday,” the spokesperson added.
