Two villages of Tripura declared 100% vaccinated

The state government launched a massive vaccination drive for 18+ age groups yesterday as part of pan India programme and over 1.34 lakh people of the age group got their dose on the first day.

Agartala: Two villages of two different districts of Tripura have been tagged as cent percent vaccinated habitations in the state today after the whole age group of 18+ has been brought under the coverage of Covid vaccine.

Health officials here said that Tripura had started a vaccination programme with the front-line workers on January 16 this year. Meanwhile, over 97 percent of 60+ and 45+ age groups have already been vaccinated in the state in last six months.

The state government launched a massive vaccination drive for 18+ age groups yesterday as part of pan India programme and over 1.34 lakh people of the age group got their dose on the first day.

With the administering the first shot to all the eligible citizens of 18+ age group, Mangalkhali Gram Panchayat of North Tripura district and Purba Chandigarh Gram Panchayat under Sepahijala district were declared as the first 100pc vaccinated villages of Tripura, said NHM Tripura Mission Director Dr Siddhartha Shiv Jaiswal.

All the citizens of 60+ and 45+ age groups had already been given the vaccine and on the first day of special drive of vaccination to 18-44 yrs, entire eligible population of the age group have been covered, he stated adding that the government is working on a mission to make Tripura soon a 100% vaccinated state of Covid-19.

As of now 20.87 lakh people of 29 lakh eligible population of the state have already been vaccinated.

Besides, the Tripura government has continued enforcing Covid curfew in the urban areas and strict adherence to follow Covid appropriate behaviour to counter the spread of the disease and prevent the severity of the impending third wave, he added.

The positivity rate of Tripura yesterday dropped down to 3.37 per cent and only four deaths were recorded.
