Two PLA, one UNLF cadres nabbed in Manipur

The arrested persons were handed over to Kumbi Police Station for taking further necessary legal action, said a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police.

Imphal: A joint team of Manipur police and Assam Rifles apprehended two cadres of the outlawed militant organisation, PLA (People Liberation Army) from Kumbi.

They are identified as self-styled 2nd Lieutenant, Keisham Kenedy Meitei, 35, son of K. Ibomcha Meitei of Utlou Keisham Leikai and self-styled Captain, Hijam Ibochouba Meitei, 43, son of (L) H. Biren Meitei of Thoubal Athokpam Mayai Leikai. 

The arrested persons were handed over to Kumbi Police Station for taking further necessary legal action, said a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police. 

Meanwhile, on the same day, an active member of the UNLF organization, who was allegedly involved in the extortion of money, was held.

The cadre has been identified as Koijam Sunder Meitei, 26, alias Dabi son of K. Shyam Meitei of Khewa Phurju, Sagolmang, Imphal – East district. One mobile handset along with two Airtel SIM cards was recovered from his possession. 

 The arrested persons along with the seized articles were handed over to Wangoi Police Station, the press note added.

Brown sugar worth Rs 1.13 cr seized  

Assam Rifles troops seized 730 grams (with case) of Brown sugar in 18 soap cases worth Rs 1.13 crore on April 10, 2023, from the general area T Khongkhai Vill.
