Two more succumb to Covid in Manipur Wednesday

The two persons from the general population who succumbed to the deadly virus are from Bishnupur and Imphal East respectively.

Imphal: In the last 24 hours leading up to 5 pm of Wednesday, Manipur reported two Covid-related deaths, 38 positive cases and 26 recoveries, as per an official release from the Health Department.

The two persons from the general population who succumbed to the deadly virus are from Bishnupur and Imphal East respectively. Both the expired people had comorbidities; one of them had taken the 1st dose and the other 2nd dose of Covid vaccine. The cumulative death in the state now stands at 2140.

Of the 38 persons who tested positive, 11 are from Churachandpur, nine from Imphal West, seven from Imphal East, five from Ukhrul, two from Senapati  and one each from Bishnupur, Tamenglong and Thoubal. Altogether, 1,036 persons were tested amounting to a positivity rate of 3.7 %.

Meanwhile, 26 persons recovered, 22 from home isolation and two each from SHRI and RIMS. The recovery rate of the state as of Saturday stands at 98.29 %.

The cumulative number of positive cases in the state now stands at 1, 39, 446 of which 1, 37,053 have recovered leaving 243  active cases in the state.

As on August 9, 2022, 114 D-type oxygen cylinders and 11 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available at different health facilities in Manipur.

The status of Covid Hospital facilities in the state as on August 10 , 2022 are as follows: JNIMS has a total of 38 beds out of which nine are occupied and 29 are vacant. RIMS has a total of 62 beds out of which 18 are occupied and 44 are vacant.

 The total number of doses administered on August 9, is 1,305, the cumulative number of doses administered is 31,35,716 (1st dose 16,22,425, 2nd dose 12,92,918) and precautionary dose is 2,23,373.
