Two killed in poll-related violence in Manipur

On Friday, unidentified miscreants lobbed a crude bomb at the residence of expelled BJP leader Ch Bijoy in Lamphel area in Manipur’s Imphal West district, police said.

Imphal: At least two people were killed and one seriously injured in separate incidents of poll related violence as the second phase voting is underway in Manipur.

The first incident took place in Thoubal district and the second in Senapati district.

K Longvao, son of T Ksh, was reportedly shot dead by security forces near polling station 47/49 Ngamju village, 47-Karong (ST) AC which comes under Senapati district and one person identified as V Saope, son of S Vane from Ngamju village was seriously injured, said a complaint made by  Ngaoni R James, election agent to R Yuh Jonathan Tao, BJP candidate 47-Karong to  the Returning Officer. 

On Friday, unidentified miscreants lobbed a crude bomb at the residence of expelled BJP leader Ch Bijoy in Lamphel area in Manipur’s Imphal West district, police said.

The incident took place on Friday night, hours before the second phase of the assembly elections was to begin, PTI quoted them as saying. 

Nobody was injured in the blast triggered by two masked persons, who came in a two-wheeler, a police officer said.
