Two-day fest on 75th independence anniversary begins in Ambassa

Organised as part of the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the festival was inaugurated by the Union Minister of State for Education and External Affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh.

Ambassa (Tripura): Amid much zeal and enthusiasm, a two-day grand festival marking the 75th anniversary of India’s independence opened in this small northern Tripura town in Dhalai district on Saturday.

Organised as part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the festival was inaugurated by the Union Minister of State for Education and External Affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh.

Union Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Jesingbhai Chauhan, Tripura’s minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Manoj Kanti Deb were among those present on the occasion.

In their speeches, the leaders laid emphasis on imbuing the young generation with the spirit of independence and nationalism so that they can cope with fresh challenges in their bid to make the nation prosperous.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and BJP state President Manik Saha attended the programme for a brief while before leaving for some urgent work.

In the evening, prominent artists presented a colourful cultural programme.
