Two-day conference of North East Indigenous People’s Forum concludes, ‘Diphupar Declaration’ adopted

Anup Chetia will be the Chairman, Dr. Lima Jamir and Tage Lapung will be Vice-Chairmen while N Ibungochoubi will discharge the function of General Secretary in the newly constituted  Executive Body of North East Indigenous People's Forum.

Dimapur: The two-day 2nd Annual Conference of the North East Indigenous People’s Forum hosted by Nagaland Indigenous People’s Forum at North East Zone Cultural Center, Diphupar, Chumukedima concluded Saturday with the formation of the new Executive Body and adoption of the ‘Diphupar Declaration’.

Anup Chetia will be the Chairman, Dr. Lima Jamir and Tage Lapung will be Vice-Chairmen while N Ibungochoubi will discharge the function of General Secretary in the newly constituted  Executive Body of North East Indigenous People’s Forum.

Following deliberations among the delegates, resource persons, scholars, intellectuals, and representatives of various organizations, the conference resolved to Adopt the ‘Diphupar Declaration’.

Article 1 of the ‘Diphupar Declaration’ states that the North East Indigenous People’s Forum will continuously strive for the creation of a conducive atmosphere for the indigenous peoples of the North East States for sharing common interests and issues.

Article 2. The North East Indigenous People’s Forum will make an endeavour in the pursuit of preserving indigenous traditional values and cultural practices.

Article 3. The North East Indigenous People’s Forum demands assurance for ensuring and making the indigenous people a stakeholder in every decision concerning the people and the land.

Article 4. The North East Indigenous People’s Forum draws the attention of the North East States to address the inter-state boundaries with utmost care. The Forum urges to give preference to the indigenous peoples in the settlement.

The Diphupar Declaration was signed jointly by Anup Chetia Chairman, North East Indigenous People’s Forum (NEIPF), and Dr Temsuwati Longkumer, President, Nagaland Indigenous People’s Forum (NIPF)
