Two Army officers among four killed in J&K gunfight

Jammu: Four Army men including two officers attained martyrdom and two suffered injuries in an ensuing fierce gunfight on Wednesday in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“A gunfight broke out between a group of terrorists believed to be three to four and a joint team of security forces on Wednesday in Rajouri district,” sources said.

They added that acting on specific inputs, a cordon and a search operation were launched a few days back in Bajumaal area of Kalakote.

“The hiding terrorists this morning fired at the search party which was retaliated and the encounter triggered,” they said.

“Two officers among four Army personnel attained martyrdom while two sustained injuries in the operation, which is in progress,” sources added.

They said that three to four terrorists are believed to be trapped in the gunfight while more details are awaited.
