Imphal: Manipur police Tuesday arrested two drug smugglers, Melody Haokip, 21, wife of Md. Noor Khan staying in a rented house at Khuyathong Pukhri Achouba and Md. Noor Khan, 33, son of Md. Angouba from Golapati Mayai Leikai.
Two mobile handsets, 50 plastic vials containing suspected heroin no.4 powder (7 grams approx), Rs 1,04,160, Rs 1500 in old currency note, 38 gm (374 nos) of WY tablets and one TVS Jupiter scooter were seized from their possession.
The arrested persons along with the seized articles have been handed over to Imphal PS for necessary action, said a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police.
Poppy cultivator arrested
Meanwhile, the Senapati police Tuesday arrested one poppy cultivator from Khamson village in connection with FIR No. 03(02)2023 SPT-PS.
The arrested person has been identified as R.S. Timon, 38, son of R.Ng. Shill a resident of Upper Khamson Village, said a press note from the PRO, Manipur police.
