Imphal: Troops of Somsai Battalion) foiled Timber Smuggling near Choithar Junction, Ukhrul District on Wednesday and seized timber worth Rs 7.68 crore.
Assam Rifles official said the Assam Rifles troops intercepted six trucks loaded with illegal timber near Choithar junction, Ukhrul.
On enquiring, truck drivers could not produce legitimate documents of timber.
The seized timber along with apprehended smugglers and vehicles were handed over to the Forest department, Ukhrul for further legal action.
