Imphal: Troops have seized smuggled goods in the Manipur Myanmar border areas in two separate incidents on Tuesday.
Assam Rifles official said Tengnoupal Battalion seized illegal cash at Khudengthabi.During routine checking at Permanent Vehicle Check Post, Khudengthabi an individual travelling in a van was apprehended by troops of Assam Rifles with illegal cash of Rs 20.09 lakhs.
In another operation during border domination patrol on Wednesday, troops of Assam Rifles uncovered packages concealed in thick foliage in forest at Kwatha, Tengnoupal district.
On thorough search of the packages, illegal goods including liquor, cosmetics items and cigarettes were recovered. The recovered items were assessed to be worth Rs 10.26 lakhs.
The recovered items and cash along with driver and vehicle were handed over to Moreh police and Custom Prevention Force, Pallel for further legal action.
