Agartala: Tripura police have launched separate investigations into the attacks on the rally- hoppers of BJP’s national president J P Nadda on Monday allegedly by the cadres of Pradyot Kishore Debbarman’s TIPRA Motha, the ruling party of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC).

The AIG (Law & Order) Jyotishman Daschaudhuri on Thursday said one 29 -yrs old Biswajit Debbarma was arrested on Wednesday and forwarded him to court seeking remand while serving notices to 28 accused persons under section 41A CrPC in connection with seven separate cases filed in different police stations in West Tripura, Sepahijala and Khowai districts.

According to BJP Janjati Morcha General Secretary Devid Debbarma, as many as 300 people were injured on their way back home after attending the rally in various locations and of them, 55 have been hospitalized with critical injuries.

“Several vehicles carrying BJP supporters were vandalized on the road and a large number of houses of BJP supporters were attacked and ransacked by the Motha cadres on the day. The unruly cadres of Motha prevented thousands of people from attending the rally, which is completely undemocratic and dangerous,” Devid said.

Criticizing the statement of Congress and CPI-M, he observed that both the parties indirectly supported the violence and attacks of TIPRA Motha on BJP and had raised wild allegations against BJP and added, “There were courter attacks and violence in last four years but, it was for the self-defense of the BJP supporters.”
