Agartala: Tripura government is expecting clearance from parliament to the proposal for enhancing power and functions of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), Tribal Welfare Minister Mevar Kr Jamatia said in the assembly Tuesday.

Replying to a query of ruling IPFT MLA Brisaketu Debbarma, Jamatia stated that even after 38 yrs of the creation of ADC many fundamental administrative powers were not transferred to the district council.

After the BJP-IPFT government came to power in 2018, the state government sent a comprehensive proposal to the central government seeking to increase the number of ADC seats from the existing 30 to 50 and renaming TTAADC to Tripura Territorial Council (TTC), the response of which is yet to come but expecting it soon.

Apart from that, the state government has also demanded the centre to delegate the power for transferring of land and other important administrative issues, he added.
