Agartala: A revenue court of West Tripura on Saturday sealed the office of both the Chairman and Managing Director of Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) for non-compliance with the court order regarding compensation towards land acquisition.
The Chairman of TIDC Tinku Roy happens to be the General Secretary of Tripura BJP and is accused of several corruption including printing of posters and hoarding of BJP party and various government departments without maintaining formalities and land deals over the past four years.
According to Special Secretary to Industries and Commerce department Abhishek Chandra, in a land compensation related case filed by one Goutam Kumar Das and others claiming Rs 4.79 Cr the land acquisition court sealed the offices of Chairman and Managing Director.
The lower court in 2019 had directed the TIDC to pay the amount as compensation following a petition that arose after being found a defaulter in payment of compensation.
The TIDC earlier was served with a notice asking to make immediate payment of the outstanding amount by August 20 last failing of which the properties of the department would be attached.
Meantime, TIDC challenged the decision in the High Court and High Court directed to deposit at least some amount following which TIDC deposited an amount of Rs 1.28 Cr.
“We were supposed to apprise the lower Court that the case was already listed in the High Court and no order should be passed till the court proceedings are over. But, the fact is that we didn’t have the stay order,” Chandra added.
